Your Brain Isn’t Broken. It’s Just Been Mis-Programmed

Have you ever wondered...

  • “Why do I keep procrastinating?”

  • “Why do I hold myself back just when things are going well?”

  • “Why do I feel anxious about things I should be excited about?”

If you’ve ever thought, “There must be something wrong with me,” I want to offer you a different way of looking at it.

There is nothing wrong with you at all.

You are simply responding to old patterns, beliefs, and decisions that are still influencing how you show up today.

This is something we explored in The Millionaire Codes, and it has become an even bigger part of the work I do with successful female entrepreneurs.

You consciously know exactly what you want.

You know what to do next.

You have the strategy, the experience, and the expertise.

Yet something still seems to get in the way.

Maybe you procrastinate on the thing you know matters.

Maybe you hesitate to raise your rates.

Maybe you hold back from becoming more visible.

Maybe you second-guess a decision you already know you want to make.

Maybe you keep reaching the same revenue ceiling, even though you’ve invested in the strategies that were supposed to help you break through it.

This is what I now call Invisible Resistance.

Your patterns are there for a reason

We all develop beliefs, interpretations, and ways of responding based on our experiences.

Some of those patterns are incredibly useful.

Others may have made sense at one point in your life but no longer serve the woman or business owner you are today.

You may consciously want to become more visible while another part of you associates visibility with judgment.

You may consciously want to grow your business while finding yourself uncomfortable with the decisions that growth requires.

You may want to charge more while noticing an old story about what you’re allowed to ask for.

You may know it’s time to delegate while still feeling as though you need to do everything yourself.

The interesting part is that you may not even recognize the pattern while it’s happening.

You simply experience the result.

You feel stuck.

You hesitate.

You overthink.

You procrastinate.

You keep doing more of what you’ve always done.

Then you wonder why you aren’t moving forward.

What if you’re not the problem?

This is the reframe I want you to consider.

What if the issue isn’t that you need to work harder, become more disciplined, or learn another strategy?

What if there is something underneath the behaviour that you haven’t been able to see yet?

That question matters.

You can’t change a pattern you don’t recognize.

Once you can see what has been influencing your decisions and behaviour, you have the opportunity to respond differently.

One of my clients described her experience as feeling as though she had shattered an invisible bubble she didn’t even realize was surrounding her.

I love that description.

The bubble was invisible until it wasn’t.

That’s often what this work feels like.

Something that once seemed automatic becomes visible.

A reaction that once felt inevitable starts to feel different.

You begin to recognize that you have another choice.

You may not need another strategy

This is especially important for successful women who have already invested heavily in their growth.

If you’ve tried the strategies, hired the coaches, read the books, taken the courses, and done the work, yet you still find yourself hitting the same patterns, another strategy may not be the answer.

If strategy isn’t your problem, more strategy isn’t your solution.

The next level of your business may require you to look at what is happening beneath the strategy.

Where are you holding back?

What are you avoiding?

Where are you second-guessing yourself?

What do you already know you need to do, yet you’re still not doing?

Those questions can reveal a lot.

Your results aren’t only about what you do

Your actions matter.

Your strategy matters.

Your skills and experience matter.

Who you are being while you take those actions matters too.

That’s why so much of my work today is grounded in BE → DO → HAVE.

Who are you being?

What does that version of you do differently?

What becomes possible as a result?

Sometimes the biggest shift isn’t learning something new.

Sometimes it’s recognizing an old pattern that has been quietly making decisions for you and realizing you don’t have to keep responding in the same way.

So the next time you catch yourself thinking, “Why am I doing this again?” try asking a different question:

“What might be happening underneath this?”

Get curious instead of judging yourself.

You might discover that you already know what to do.

The real question is:

What is actually holding you back?
